How We Verify Card Offers

Our sourcing, verification, and update methodology

Card-linked offers change constantly. Credits get added, spend thresholds shift, and deals expire without notice. Accuracy is the whole point of this site, so we treat verification as a repeatable process, not a one-time task. This page explains exactly where our data comes from, how we check it, how often we recheck it, and what we do when something is wrong.

Our Verification Process, Step by Step

Every offer and every benefit figure published on mycarddeals.com goes through the same five steps before it appears, and again on a recurring schedule after it is live.

  1. 1
Source from the issuer, never from aggregators
We pull each offer directly from the card issuer’s own portal and official pages. We do not copy listings from other deal sites or points blogs, because those are often stale or wrong.
  2. 2
Cross-check the terms against official language
Spend thresholds, credit amounts, enrollment requirements, and expiry dates are matched word for word against the issuer’s stated terms. If the terms are ambiguous, we say so rather than guess.
  3. 3
    Confirm eligibility details
For earning rates and category credits we confirm which merchants and merchant category codes actually qualify, so readers know before they spend, not after.
  4. 4
    Re-verify on a weekly cycle
Live offers are rechecked every seven days. When an issuer changes a credit or a benefit, we update the page and note the change rather than leaving old figures in place.
  5. 5
    Remove expired offers promptly
The moment an offer ends, it comes down. We would rather show fewer offers than show one that no longer works.

Where Our Data Comes From

Our primary source is always the card issuer. For the cards we currently cover, that means the official American Express site and cardholder portal at americanexpress.com. Benefit figures, credit structures, and enrollment rules are taken from the issuer’s published terms. Where we reference a rule that sits outside the issuer (for example how a merchant category code is defined), we cite the relevant authority directly on the page rather than paraphrasing a third party.

How Often We Update

Offer pages are reviewed weekly. Card benefit pages are reviewed whenever the issuer announces a change, and at minimum every month. When a page carries a last verified or last updated date, that date reflects the most recent time a person checked the figures on that page against the source, not an automated timestamp.

Editorial Independence

mycarddeals.com earns affiliate commissions when a reader applies for a card through some of our links. That revenue keeps the site free, but it does not decide what we publish. We do not accept payment to feature a card, merchant, or offer more prominently, and we do not soften our assessments in exchange for compensation. Rankings and recommendations are based on value to the reader. For the full breakdown of how we make money, see our Affiliate Disclosure.

What We Do Not Do

  • ✗ We do not invent reviewers or fake named experts. All content is published under our real editorial team, not fabricated personas.
  • ✗ We do not write fake first-person experiences or made-up spending stories to seem more relatable.
  • ✗ We do not publish offer figures we could not confirm at the source, and we do not leave expired offers up to pad the page.
  • ✗ We do not give personalized financial advice. We publish factual offer information, and the decision is always yours.
